“Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take awhile. It’s normal to take awhile. You’ve just gotta fight your way through.” (Ira Glass)

my b in advance! this is all cut and paste and trying to spread it to as many teams as possible.. PLEASE COME THROUGH

If you care about this art and if you care about uniting the scenes of the dance community please share this all throughout jersey.  It’s tomorrow but we can still make a difference

Ay so I just wanted to spread the word. So iono if you were aware but mr wiggles taught today in rutgers nb for 37 chamber and only six people showed up. And being that you help direct whatever team or dance for whatever crew/company, I’m personally pleading for your help in bringing out more people to the second day of the workshop tomorrow. This is really important not to make money, not to make it worth it for wiggles to come out but for our community, its growth, and our sense of self-respect as dancers. I know a lot of us may have had other priorities, I didn’t show up ‘cause I have an exam tomorrow but, regardless this is an opportunity we all ought to take. We’ve been graced by my good friend tanzil, who helped bring bionic and wiggles to jersey so that we can bridge the gap between the choreo and freestyle scenes so that we can really call ourselves a community. So that we can learn fundamental styles and really appreciate where our choreo comes from. So that we can grow and really validate ourselves as dancers. We can’t miss this opportunity. I hope you know how important it is for us to take this class, regardless if defining rhythm is weekend we all ought to put that on pause ‘cause this is bigger than any competition or cleaning any set. Our community’s rep and potential of growing is on the line ‘cause we don’t know if we’ll ever have the chance of learning from such an influential figure in dance. I WOULDN’T WANT TO LOSE THE RESPECT OF THIS MAN OR OUR FELLOW DANCERS FROM OTHER SCENES OR LOSE ANY POTENTIAL OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN FROM OTHER GREAT TEACHERS IN THE FUTURE. Please try and get you and your team to come through and support for the community and for ourselves as individual dancers.
